Some fashion experts have supposedly answered the question, are compression socks meant to be tight? This is surely a stupid question. There are no medical studies that prove that wearing high-heeled socks causes nerve damage or discomfort. Socks are worn for a variety of reasons: to make your feet feel better and more comfortable, to look good and even to enhance one’s sex life!

A woman who has tight toenails can put on very short-length socks and walk around all day feeling great about her appearance. Socks like these are not meant to be tight because you are restricting blood circulation in your toes, causing them to become red, swollen and irritated. You don’t want to wear compression socks to enhance anything, but actually it is the exact opposite. If you do end up with foot pain or even a sore toe from wearing the wrong socks, you should definitely stop immediately to allow proper healing to take place. Wearing compression socks improperly can cause permanent damage to your toes, feet or even legs.

The best way to make sure your feet stay healthy and stay comfortable, is by not putting them through unnecessary stress. You shouldn’t need to wear high-heeled, tight socks just to look good. High-heeled, tight toenails can cause a variety of foot and leg problems over time, including painful blisters, corns and calluses, and even damage to the cartilage in your toes and feet. Not wearing the right kinds of socks can also lead to skin rashes, hair loss and irritation. So, if you are asking, are compression socks supposed to be tight, the answer would simply be “No.”
